The Philippines has been relying on the news for information regarding the current turn of events, the way the government is ruling itself, it has the sole power to explain and enlighten Filipinos regarding current events. It is easy for them to claim that they are the messengers and bringers of truth. TV networks like ABS-CBN, GMA, TV5 are the leading tv stations in the country, somehow I find this fact disturbing. How? It is perfectly insane to entrust all of our beliefs to a few power hungry, rating hungry journalists. Whatever they tell in the news becomes true, but where do we draw the line? Has it never occurred to your mind that PHilippine media is also corrupt, corrupt like the government officials that they are reporting about? I do understand that they have contributed a lot in the current PHilippine setting, but I am also a skeptic in many ways.
1. Too much negativity in the news, are you not tired of the endless useless negative reporting every day, we always watch a robber getting hit by a victim, or vehicular accidents, they only focus on the negative issues in the country, rarely do they mention real activities that occur, real people real changes. Because of the negativity the masses are easily persuaded that there is nothing left to be done in this country and that there is no hope.
2. I am also wondering about the bad kind of reporting being done in Mindanao, i could not help but question if we are really seeing the real side of Mindanao, or just the negative reports, the sensationalized reports thanks to our over acting journalists. Have we really seen the real situation of the imprisoned Ampatuan? or is it staged?
3. remember how mr. tulfo got through the phone with the hostage taker in Quiriono Granstand hostage taking, because he was interfering in the negotiations, other negotiators were not able to get through the hostage taker. talk about power hungry media men, i have also heard of a case against Mr. Tulfo and other Tulfo brothers, i dont know if this is true, but i have heard that they have been extorting money from individuals.
4. Are you not tired of the endless reports about Kris Aquino's life? or anne curtis, or the love life of some celebrity who is obviously just promoting a new film or product? Why cant we report about real heroes in the PHilippines instead of this trashy celebrities. I have not even heard of reports regarding mayors and governors who have actually done something good for this country, i dont believe that there is none whatsoever. I just do not want to rely on a few ideas provided by this media men, let alone vote them for office. When we voted for Mr. Noli De Castro, have we heard about major changes in the way he governed, I bet Manny Pacquiao has done more than this media guy.
