philippine media and corruption

The Philippines has been relying on the news for information regarding the current turn of events, the way the government is ruling itself, it has the sole power to explain and enlighten Filipinos regarding current events. It is easy for them to claim that they are the messengers and bringers of truth. TV networks like ABS-CBN, GMA, TV5 are the leading tv stations in the country, somehow I find this fact disturbing. How? It is perfectly insane to entrust all of our beliefs to a few power hungry, rating hungry journalists. Whatever they tell in the news becomes true, but where do we draw the line? Has it  never occurred to your mind that PHilippine media is also corrupt, corrupt like the government officials that they are reporting about? I do understand that they have contributed a lot in the current  PHilippine setting, but I am also a skeptic in many ways.

1. Too much negativity in the news,  are you not tired of the endless useless negative reporting every day, we always watch a robber getting hit by a victim, or vehicular accidents, they only focus on the negative issues in the country, rarely do they mention real activities that occur, real people real changes. Because of the negativity the masses are easily persuaded that there is nothing left to be done in this country and that there is no hope.
2. I am also wondering about the bad kind of reporting being done in Mindanao, i could not help but question if we are really seeing the real side of Mindanao, or just the negative reports, the sensationalized reports thanks to our over acting journalists. Have we really seen the real situation of the imprisoned Ampatuan? or is it staged?
3. remember how mr. tulfo got through the phone with the hostage taker in Quiriono Granstand hostage taking, because he was interfering in the negotiations, other negotiators were not able to get through the hostage taker. talk about power hungry media men, i have also heard of a case against Mr. Tulfo and other Tulfo brothers, i dont know if this is true, but i have heard that they have been extorting money from individuals.
4. Are you not tired of the endless reports about Kris Aquino's life? or anne curtis, or the love life of some celebrity who is obviously just promoting a new film or product? Why cant we report about real heroes in the PHilippines instead of this trashy celebrities. I have not even heard of reports regarding mayors and governors who have actually done something good for this country, i dont believe that there is none whatsoever. I just do not want to rely on a few ideas provided by this media men, let alone vote them for office. When we voted for Mr. Noli De Castro, have we heard about major changes in the way he governed, I bet Manny Pacquiao has done more than this media guy.

gang related violence in Baguio CIty, a sign of weakness.

I have written this blog article never to campaign against the safety of Baguio City, of course there are different problems in various parts of the world, even London has its own share of problems. I have written this in the hopes of understanding the nature of gang violence, why would some people join this kinds of groups? what do they hope to gain from it? Does it really provide salvation for those who include themselves in the workings of a group or does it make people dumber and ignorant due to the fact that they are following a limited mind set of 3 or  more leaders in the group?

There is a growing number of teenagers and men aged 20-40 joining fraternities in Baguio City and other parts of Northern Luzon.  I do not really know the workings of this group and what they aim to do, but I have never heard of any good coming from this groups including sorority groups. In truth I believe joining fraternities is a major sign of weakness. A big sign of weakness, somehow this people were unable to find strength inside themselves and they still need others to affirm their existence, they still need another person to bully them around and shout at them, it is not a sign of courage and strength to pass the tortures given by this Fraternities, to me this is a sign of submission, weak submission, it is worse than being a mama's boy.

what can vandalism do? would they somehow enrich the artistic sense of the community by destroying private and public property? I think they should join artists group instead, they can dance their frustration away, they can paint their heart aches, they can try to create a living, earn on their own. help redefine the world, there is no good in joining fraternities, especially if they command you to harm others. There are other ways to express the self, in truth real power is the ability to control the self, to let go of hate despite the pain. To be able to stop the violence, IF someone in your family has hurt you deeply, there is no good in doing this to others as well, how will the pain ever stop . Men think that it is cool to be a part of this group, when in fact would it not be better to be able to stand on your own, change the perception of the world? What is frustrating is that they would not be able to understand the things that I wrote in here, do this people even read?
I wish at some point men would stop thinking that harming others for no reason at all is one way to live. They do not even have any justifications for doing so? If they want to do some good, why don't they attack corrupt politicians instead? why don't they plan a way to make this corrupt individuals go, in truth the real problem lies with this government officials, not us civilians.

gangs, fraternities are they beneficial or harmful to society?
